ok wich is better. the #8 plate or a #10? the reason i ask this is because most people are running a #10 that I have talked to and the ones with the 370 injectors say they can black out a two lane highway when they get on it :-laf .

I cant do that with my #8 plate and the 370's. :( Oh yeah i have the automatic in my ride. :(

Have you advanced the fuel injection pump timing yet? Just did mine. Less smoke now. And, in the off chance you still have a stock auto trans, it can't load the engine well enough to really make smoke. Once I got my built auto, I could blow smoke in 1st gear. :D Oo.

Also, how loose is the spring in the AFC housing, and is the housing slid full forward? (You might have told me this earlier, but I forget. ) I have my sring as loose as it will go, outside of disassembling the housing, and the housing is full forward.

Plate-wise, can't really say. They have different profiles on them, and haven't seen one. A 10 plate is good for towing, since it cuts the fuel back on the top-end to help keep EGTs down. Kind of half-moon shaped profile.

Each plate is different for each pump. The 10 plate is the bad boy for the 215 pump, but won't do much at all on a 160 pump it might give you 30-40 HP. Since you have a 180 pump the comparitive to a #10 plate on a 215 for a 180 would be a number 5 plate. Or if you want more low end power (better have a built trans!) get a number 4 plate.
