All the bad raps on K&N's , is that on just the original box inserts or all aftermarkets ? I have read the inserts would not seal and that would be understandable, but I have the tube and was wondering if it is the filter medium itself they are talking about ?

Good Question

I've used K&N Filters for years in performance applications.

With high air flow do they not filter as well? I would think it would depend on the surface area of filter, which would determine

the velocity of the air across filter.

Larger area = slower air = more efficients filtering.

Does use of K&N accelerate cross hatch wear as DC indicates?

Does this make sense?

TC, makes perfect sense. No K&N is "bad" if it is installed correctly and isn't damaged. I run both the air box K&N filter and a cone 0880 K&N in my two rigs. Oil test levels for silicone have been the same and in one case lower than what I used to get with the stock paper filter. There will be no additional wear with a K&N if it is operating properly.
