New Tremec 4050 5 speed manual transmission replacement for NV 4500

Hello all, going to replace the original clutch on truck with 295K miles in my signature (1999 2500 4x4 with NV5600). Installing new LUK clutch kit 05-902 - 1 1/4" input shaft and 12 1/4" inch clutch. LUK has two flywheels listed.

LUK300 Kit - includes spacer kit for starter

LUK302 Kit - I think this is OE that will work without having to use spacer kit for starter

Which flywheel would be best to install with new clutch?

Thank you in advance for any input/experience with clutch/flywheel replacement.

Maybe this kit. I didn't know the early 6spds used the 12.3 clutch. Since you had such good luck with yours it probably wouldn't pay to upgrade to the 13"x1.25.

Thanks Nick, 05-178 is a good kit for the 12 1/4" clutch and 1 1/4" input shaft. Looking into specs this kit is the standard duty kit for 5 speed. I'm planning on going with the HD 05-902 clutch kit (this is original equipment) for the early 12 1/4" clutch/1 1/4" input shaft 6 speed. Leaning toward going with the LFW302 OE replacement flywheel. I've considered an upgrade to 13" x 1.25, but the original clutch has been great! Pilot bearing is showing signs of wear.

Do you have your clutch out yet?

The LFW302 appears to be drilled for both clutches, so if you want a 13":D

Just another option.

This is what I used, only in 13" Note the strength of the hub.

You have a good eye for details!

I was tempted to upgrade when I noticed the LFW302 was drilled for both clutches. Don't have the clutch out yet and trying to gather the major parts needed before disassembly. The ZF Sachs/NAPA clutches look to be good choices. If at some point in the future the NV5600 needs repair/rebuild I'll look into having it built with a 1 3/8 input (if possible) and go with an upgraded 13". I'm typically driving GVW/GCVW 8,500 to 12,000/14,000 and on the rare occasion 16,000-18,000.
