Which manufacturers make a 4" remote exhaust brake?

US Gear makes a 4" too. USG totally seals off exhaust to a preset pressure instead of using holes in the plate, allowing braking to start at a lower rpm. Supposedly you can also use stock 30# springs, at least if you have a 12v.

I have the USG and have not had any problems with it. Works totally as expected. It's pretty loud when actuated (like most USG stuff :D ) - actually sounds pretty

A friend has the BD brake and it works very well, high quality stuff. If you can use 30 psi springs, braking effect is not all that great. You can get 30% more with the 60 psi springs. That is true of any one's brake. The BD is adjustable to match your needs and the valve springs.

BD 4" also fully closes. It uses an off center butterfly valve. As pressure builds above the preset pressure the butterfly is forced open against the preload spring. This gives great low speed braking and is fully adjustable for max pressure. The amount of total back pressure allowed determines total braking. If you stay with 30# valve springs instead of going to 60#, your total backpressure must be kept lower to prevent the valves from being forced open and striking the pistons. It doesn't matter what brake you have. Total back pressure deturmines the amount of braking. I noticed a huge difference between 20psi and 45psi.

I guess I don't understand the question. The point is, you can adjust up to a higher pressure with the 60# springs. I have a gauge so I can tell how well mine is working

I would say the 60# springs will produce as much as you can get since I don't know of stronger ones. As far as HP? All I know is I can go down the hills at close to the same speed/gear I came up, with just the e-brake on and my gauge reading 45psi back pressure.

Chip

I just noticed that you have a 24V. These already have 60#
