I'm adding 5" stacks to my '03 and need any recommendations on mufflers or resonators that I can get. I love the straight pipe sound but I tow heavy 50% of the time or more. Is there any way to get the straight pipe/semi sound without going deaf towing 15,000 lbs? BTW the shorter the better. Kinda tight on space under there! As you can see in my sig I have the DPPI system now but the drone under a load is pretty bad on the highway.

I'd put a 7-9" diameter resonator under the truck... you could then run a dynomax bullet at the base of each stack... the 4" ID bullets have a 5" OD, so you could butt the stacks up to the top of them, and weld (or clamp if your stacks are 5" OD at the base) them in place.

I would imagine that this would be a pretty livable setup... might cost you a bit, but would probably offer the best sound suppression with least impact on performance or looks

Stacks and Pulling=loud

Make sure you can handle noise. I just joined the "removed my stacks" crowd.

Mine were designed around Rob Thomas setup. That is, a double walled (inner 4" pipe inside the 5" stacks). I had the inner pipes wrapped. The entire 4x6 tubing piece wrapped. I had TWO 4" magnaflow mufflers under the truck for sound control.

I could get to stock quiet for about 200 rpms but before and after it was pretty loud. Running empty it was livable, but pulling was something else. Outside the truck, I think it honestly sound like those straight piped bull haulers running hard. Pulling hard I could hear that deep resonating sound echo as I drove through each Interstate underpass. This is with the radio up pretty loud.

It sure looked cool watching that smoke roll out (at will mind you) but the noise got hard to deal with.

Mine is not stacked yet. . but I feel certain that it will be. .

When I went with 4" exhaust things were quiet for a while until I added a 5" turndown that is about 12-14" long. It gave the exhaust a deeper tone and got a little louder. I would guess that its the echo pipe results. Now with the 5" stacks. . you are multiplying(sp?) the sound that much more.

I can my truck straight piped for over a year on the 3" system before I went with the 4" so I know what noise while pulling is.

I would like it to sound quiet enough that you can hear the turbo but not loud enough to rattle the back glass...
