which port for transmission temp gauge?

which one of the three ports do i install sensor for the transmission temp. i did the middle one an the sensor was to long an would hit something befor it would thread in.....

All of those ports are stagnant oil-- it doesn't move enough to be a real relevant number.

Either put the sensor in the pan or a fitting in the line going to the cooler.

i put in the lowest one an forward most to the front of the truck. transmission fluid came out when i undid the plug. will that location work..... im puttin gauges in right now... transmission temp, boost,pyro

Any of those ports will read case temp, that is all!!!!

Put it in the pan, or put it in the cooler line.

The trans fluid must be moving across the sensor to give you an accurate reading.

NO! You risk damage to the transmission and it will not read the high fluid temps until well after the trans is toast.



The best location is the trans cooler output line, front line on drivers side, to monitor max fluid temps for fluid changes and keep from cooking the trans.

I believe Diesel Manor has a replacement hose for the transmission line that is already setup for the probe.

Im thinking about either going that route or the accutemp from Genos

Several folks have used the adapter that just clamps on the output line with good results. Go here:

one more ? is the acu temp adapter accurate enough to just use that or should i replace the entire line. Thanks a lot guys for your input(help) !!!
