Which pyro probes fit pre-turbo?

I searched the archives but could not find
an answer to my question, which pyro probes
fit in the exhaust manifold pre-turbo? I have
ordered Auto Meter boost and pyro gauges and
the A-pillar mount. Does the #5249 pyro fit
when installed pre-turbo or only post-turbo?
The place I ordered the gauges from shows the
#5249 pyro kit on back order, by the way.

Also, I found the info about where to drill
and tap the manifold for the exhaust pyro.
Do I need an adaptor to install the probe or
will it just screw in place?

If your pyro is like most, it has an "adaptor" which has a male pipe thread on one end and a compression fitting on the other. The pipe thread screws into the hole you tap in the manifold (or elbow) and the probe is captured by the compression fitting. Two things to note: #1-There has been some discussion about cracking manifolds-don't overtorque when you install. It just needs to tight enough to hold the fitting. #2-The tip of the probe should be in the center of the exaust flow. Once you tighten the compression fitting, thats where it will live take the time to do it right.
Oh yea, one more thing, this is the first step down a long slippery slope-HAPPY BOMBING!

The Autometer Thermocouple Probes are 1/8 NPT " thread. Drill & tap a 1/4"NPT hole and just get a adapter. Thermocouple for a pre or post turbo are no different.
I have T-Couple # 5244. It is the Competition series. I am just going to go with Street Series # 5249. Its 50 bucks less.

Jegs told me they have # 5249 in stock. I had to order a different water temp gauge, so I got the Street Thermocouple too.
The Auotmeter Pyro gauge looks like a good quality product. It comes with a "transducer". About the size of a pack of smokes. Pyro wires attach to that. The gauge wires also go to that. It needs its own 12 volt power supply too.

Thanks for the info guys. My main concern
is getting a pyro probe that is too long to
put in the exhaust manifold pre-turbo. I read
a few posts about adjustable ones, and that
the depth inside the cast iron exhaust manifold would not allow some probes to fit.
I'll post a picture of the installed gauges
as soon as it is done!
