I have an 01 24 valve with a 47RE. Im looking for suggestions for a remanufactured transmission designed for towing and the weaknesses upgraded. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

In case you do not have access, but in Cali you should, but a mechanic friend of mine says the Jasper makes an extra heavy duty for our trucks that he swears by. Not sure I could find a goerand guy around here. No experience though, my original still going strong! And I'm proud of it!!!

Research is the way to go with that type of expensive upgrade. I'd recommend what I had done back in 04 and 100k+ miles back (DTT) but to my knowledge, due to death in the family, they are no longer in business. I'll recommend continuing to do your research and be prepared to fork over about 4k for a complete rebuild (most likely the way you should go) but I wouldn't recommend going to the local trans shops in your area (no offense intended here) they're usually just not proficient with building the "right trans" for what you're looking for. They most likely would do a standard rebuild with "maybe" a shift improver kit. When I was researching I was on the fence between DTT and Goerand and I went with DTT from what I read here and experienced about their customer service/stand behind their product as well as training required for shops to be one of their trans builders.

Not saying you're insinuating otherwise, Joe, and CERTAINLY not wanting to start transmission War III, but I have heard nothing but good things about Goerend's. Their customer service and product support are top notch, not to mention the quality of their products. Dave was one of the pioneers who started fixing Chrysler's trannies so they would hold up behind our Cummins'.

I also have had nothing but great experience with Goerend parts and support.

Goerend does not build complete transmissions anymore. Unless something changed in the last year or so.

VB, TC, parts kits yep still 100% great place to get your kit from and awesome support. Really have awesome stuff going on over there.

Consult with them on your needs and they put a kit together for your needs for sure.

They have a comprehensive nation wide installer list.
