Porter-Cable Tiger Saw is by far the best. You can pick them up factory reconditioned for a good price if you look around.

It's about the handiest tool I own, other than my Dewalt cordless drill. I have a Milwaukee Super Sawzall, it's advertised to have less vibration than their other models. All my heavy duty tools are Milwaukee.

It's a matter of opinion. I'd buy the one with the highest rated power if I were you and cost was somewhat secondary.

Better to buy than rent, if you needed it once, you'll need it again. I'm surprised at how much I've had to use mine.

I have to second the vote for Porter Cable. I have a regular Sawzall and a Super Sawzall by Milwaukee. The regular is gutless and the super overheats as soon as you start working it hard, they are both junk. Never again will I buy a Milwaukee sawzall. The PC is a HOSS!!! lots of power and it won't quit. The Makita is smaller and lighter than anything else on the market with good power too, it is a good tool. Dollar for Dollar the PC is king IMO.

Milwaukee Super Sawzall

Best one out there for minimal vibration. Available in either 10amp at about 170 or the 50th Anniversery Limited Edition with an 11amp motor for abotu 185. Shop around though, lots of competition on the price.

I would go with a Variable Speed Milwaukee. I have one and they are very dependable and high quality. I hear that DeWalt has decent ones too.

I've had the same old Millwaukee Sawzall for about 15 years. It has cut

2X stock, 4X stock, tree limbs, bumpers, iron pipe, cast iron, lots of bolts, etc. etc. Never used a Porter Cable, but I have other PC tools and they work great too. Either way you can't go wrong. I probably own 8 Milwaukee power tools including a big old Rotary Hammer which is GREAT cause I can switch to hammer only mode and break up sidewalks, foundations etc.

I have the Dewalt and it has been great. As mentioned above I bought it for one use and have used it so much I can't believe I did without one for so long before that. It will cut just about anything with the right blade. My dewalt is over 5 years old and works as good as new. Bought the Dewalt because I got it for about 110. 00 and since I had several other Dewalt tools and were happy with them couldn't really justify the extra expense of a PC with the limited use I thought I was going to have with it. IMO the PC is probably a better unit but you do pay for it.
