I want to get the MT Classic II rims for my truck. I have 305/70 16 on my stock rims now. Can I get a 16x10 rim and still be OK? Or should I stick with a 16x8? Also what would be the best back spacing to go with? I can't remember what the back spacing is on the stock rims. I am not to worried about the tires sticking out from the truck because I have the Bushwacker extend a fenders on the truck, but at the same time I don't want them sticking out past the fender flares. Thanks in advance:)

305's are about the max on 8's, but if you go 10's the tires won't protect the rims if you go rock crawling. I think the backspacing is 4 1/2".

No Opinions????

RKohn

Thanks for the response. I guess no one else has anything to say in regards to this subject. Plenty of people looking though. Can anyone else verify RKohn's hunch that the factory alloy wheels backspacing is 4. 5"? Once again TIA.

Joe,

I have four sets of alloy rims and tires, 7", 2 @ 8" and 10". I like the wide 10" for 295/75 BFG's as the tread flattens out. Not sure of the back spacing but I dislike the 10's, one set of 8's and a chrome set of 16. 5's because excessive backs spacing they cause rock chips and "muddy up" the paint, even with a ground effects package that includes flares. dzlcrayz,

My opinion would be to go with the classics not the classic II as the classics a forged not cast wheel. As for size the 8 and 10 are the same back spacing so the 10 stick out 2 inches farther and the stock rims are a very deep back spacing to keep the track width of the truck the same as it was with the 6. 5 inch steel wheels. You are looking at a wheel the is 3-4 inches out from your stock 2001 alloys.

I hope some of this is helpful

A 10" wide wheel is WIDE. You might not like the way it looks. It's gonna stick WAY out. My 16 x 8 M/T Challengers come out about 1/2" past my Bushwacker Street flares.

The factory Alloy wheel has 6¾" backspace. (Yes, Six and three quarter inches) You won't be able to find that in an aftermarket wheel.

Below is a M/T 16 x 8, 4 9/16" Backspace, 0 offset.

Thanks a MILLION!

I really appreciate the replies to my questions! All of the replies have definitely helped me out a lot. I will probably go with an 8" wide rim which will still allow for 315's in the future and give the look I am looking for. I like the wheel setup to stick out a little bit to give it a more aggressive stance, especially since I have extend-a-fenders on my truck. Thanks again to everyone!!:)
