which running boards?

i have to install running boards before i hear one more person complain. my ques. is which running boards stick up the closest to the bottom of the truck (please exclude the swinging too much $). i have seen the luvernes($250) they seem to fit nice are these the best? i dont like running boards esp. when they hang low and give that bad body lift look. opinions please.

sorry wrong board

Brown's Welding Steps

I just had a set installed on my wife's 03 2500. Mounts are welded to the frame. They are 2" steel tube covered with steel mesh. Very sharp and very stout. I'm having a set installed on my 02 3500 on Friday. $375 installed. Brown's Welding is located in New Braunfels Texas. Very tight fit.

I have the same dee zee boards. They are definately one of the highest mounting ones I have seen. Quality is decent. I went with aluminum diamond plate - I thin you can get black, aluminum no plate, or stainless as well.

I am worried about how tight they fit against the cab. quality i am not worried about. what color do you guys think would look best on a silver srw 6' (black/ chrome/body color)?

I have maap challengers. These are ss with black plastic where you stand to climb aboard. They are a flattened oval 5" wide. This gives you some rock protection but not the running board look. They are tucked up high and mount solidly without drilling. These match well with the graphite color I have and Im guessing they would look good with silver. If you go over to the DTR and search for maap running boards then look at the posts by Utah you will find where he posted pictures.

I have a set of the Mopar boards on mine - a little pricey, but they tuck up tight to the body, seal well to the body and a nose tackle could jump up and down on them and not break them. Plus, they're offered painted in most of the Sport colors for a little bit more.

I installed WESTIN Chrome Plated Nerf bars. They seem to fit tighter to my 2003 than the Luverne bars did to my 1999.

Make sure that they get the right P/N as they tend to think that the mounts for the 1500 are the same as the 2500. They are not the same. $350. 00 for chrome on S. S. though. Best price I could find locally.

:) :) :)

it sounds like it will be westin, luverne,or mapp and chrome but it sounds like the westin might mount closer than the luverne but i think the westin might be a little pricey.
