Looking at buying a code reader/eraser. I have an ACtron CP9035, borrowed from my brother, but it does not seem to read codes correctly.

Was looking at the Actron CP9135 or the CP9145 (which is both OBD I and OBD II complient. )

Any one have any recommendations?

Is the 9135 adequate for the 2004. 5? It is half the price but seems to do half as much as the 9145.

Other options or recommendations welcome.

Thanks!

How much is the unit? And where can you obtain it?

Since getting my truck, I have three times happen where the light comes on... ... ... ... . and I've gone to the dealer, and he says that "it's just a ghost issue"..... i. e. no problem.

I would like to have something at home that I can "read" and determine, and get rid of the light. It's really a pain to have to go in for just that!

The 9145 is around $180. The 9135 sells for around $100. These are per sell price on e-bay. The 9145 is able to be used on OBDI and OBDII vehicles and has a few more options. I was leaning towards a code reader that does both I and II as I could use the versatility for a broader range at our shop.

I know its more bucks but when you consider what mods cost and the trucks value IMO I would give something like this a try.

I use a Snap On Scanner at work which is super expensive for a DIY'er but if I didn't have one and only needed something for the home garage I would be totally into this.

Also another that works well with PDA and laptops at less money is this one

Have to remember you will only get OBDII data on the 3rd gens with CTD so spending more money for the enhanced Chrysler stuff will do you no good as that is extra stuff for gas applications.
