Want to run a big single that will make 800+ and have fairly decent spool up. I have been looking at HTT, II, and Turbonetics. Truck will be used for drag racing, dyno runs, and occasional weekend nights. Really interested in the Y2K or Thumper turbos cause you really don't hear much about them on here.

the only thing that i know about turbonetics is that tractor pulling guys dont like them, i know some guys that have tried them and they didnt make alot of power but for drag racing things might be differant

The turbonetics are pretty pricey too so I want to know what other people with experience with these turbos have to say about them. Why don't the pulling guys like them? I know that its a totally different world than dragracing, but I would like to know. Whatever I go with I'm sure its going to be pricey but I want it to be bulletproof. :D

the turbonetic chargers tend to go under at the end of the track when you really need it, biggest majority of the guys use turbos from columbus diesel, i think that turbonetics have some newer ones out that have differant wheels in them that are suppost to help.

Hey

My SB66 gets me pretty close to that.

Otherwise there is a JR 55 in the classified on TDR.

And no my truck stats are not up to date.

Edge doesn't sell the Jammers from Turbonetics anymore - and since Diesel Dynamics is gone, no outlet for them.

I believe Joe D. was using an HX55 when sickly made 800 on the dyno.

I think to get that type of HP out of a single and be able to drive it somewhat(not on the street really) you would need something bigger than a 66mm turbo. You might be able to do it with a A5K, I have a frined do upper 700's with one on his CR. A PS71 might work too. Best bet would to probably get someone to build one out of a s400 frame...

The truck im thinking of that made 1060 with spray on a single 66 is daily driven . Its on the border of streetable with the huge injectors. The VP44 (monster pump) is pretty smoky with that much fuel going through it.

But its doeable. It drives up and down California all the time (pretty flat, low elev).

But Flagg your right a 70something is probably better suited.

how about a S472 with a T4 . 96 housing?

Hello... is this thing on?

I ran an HX55 when my 1997 made 600 HP. I ran Pius Eberle's (Bell turbo) MSB 30-1250 at 800 HP. That custom turbo was a 3K compressor and center section with a custom fitted 19 cm2 turbine housing. These days, the big 71/73 High Tech Turbo would probably be what I would try first in a big single turbo for high HP. Otherwise, a good set of twin turbos. The latter would be a lot more streetable, durable, and have a broader applicable power range. Blow one single turbo and the twins would have been right in the same price range. I would contact BD Power for a set of compound turbos designed by John Todd.
