Which synthetic ATF to use????

Which synthetic ATF is most compatible with ATF+4?

I still have 15,000 miles left on my powertrain and dont want to void what is left. Can any one help with my decisiion.

ATF+4 is synthetic... . I would stick with it.

My 5 STAR Dealer wants $17 a quart. All they have done is back stab me.

Yeah I know. That's out of control. I think there's even a law suit going on about that.



The parts stores around my area are starting to carry it. 5. 99 per quart.

I just bought a quart of Chrysler ATF+4 from our local Chrysler dealership for just over $7. 00. It sounds like an isolated dealership robbery. I'd call around before I bought into the snake oil gimmick.

It's Mopar brand ATF+4 same as the dealer has. I've noticed the stuff really moves too so the word must be out... . probably trans shops buying it.

I don't remember noticing it before, so I don't know how new it is... ..... Amsoil recommends their ATF for the +4 application. $7. 80 a quart from the online store, in case you can't find the Mopar locally.

Valvoline MaxLife

Valvoline MaxLife has right on the lable that it satisfies the ATF+3 AND ATF+4 requirements. I paid $2. 39 qt at NAPA. I called the counter guy a liar, he then got out the Valvoline Factory spec book and sure as heck, there it was in print. I had him copy that page for me and will carry it in the truck. Lurch a gander at the bottle and specs contained therin. Then get the page outa the book in case you need to shove it up a service managers nose. Ron

Another thread carried this same topic about a month or two back.



D-C hasn't released the full specs on ATF+4 thus no manufacturer can truely claim to produce an equivalent.

"Meet" and "D-C approved" are two different things.



ATF+4 appears to be significant group III base stock.

Court says a producer can call it synthetic, but still made from crude oil.



The lawsuit is from an oil retail organization claiming breach of Magnusson-Moss act. Stalled in court system last I heard.
