Will be getting new tires in the near future. Currently have michelin LTX M/S. For me they have been an excellent tire. Noticed an ad about Goodyears Fortera Silent Armour. Has anyone ever run them? Walmart seems to give them an outstanding wear rating. Have 50k on the LTX M/S now and they will go another 10 K but don't want to start a long trip with them. Running stock tires 265x75xR16 LR-E

Thanks - Dean

I am getting Toyo M55's next, the reviews have been pretty positive on these. They are a commercial grade tire.

I have just found out that the Goodyear Fortera is not a 10 ply rated tire. I goofed on that one. Please disregard my question. - Thanks - Dean

I'd replace them with the same michelin LTX M/S. Unfortunately, they are not available in 17" load E sizes for the 3rd gens.

I'm running a mismatched and staggered set of tires on my truck right now (by design) and have had good luck with each.

The front I have Goodyear Wrangler RT/S and the back are Firestone Destination AT

I had bought the GY's and had them on the back with the michelins still in front. I didnt like the look of the Goodyear's (too skinny and needed more traction due to so much HP from the twins) so I bought two Firestones (305/70/16 wider for better traction and larger diameter to increase top end) and put the GY's up front and the Firestones on back.

Since I have a two wheel drive I wanted the staggered look anyway. Both tires are E rated and handle fine. The Firestones have about 110lbs more max load rating than the GY's too. I tow a 10K toy hauler and have done so with each set on the back, The GY's rode a little harsher than the FS's do but that could be the way I'm pinching the sidewalls with the small stock rims and such a large tire.

you'll have to move up to the 305/70's to get the E rated firestones, but the revs per mile are nearly same (+/- 2r/m) and you pick up 110lbs per tire in max load (3525lbs).

The Goodyears come in your size and have a max load of 3415lbs.

Klenger, the Michelin LTX M/S are available in some of the 17" sizes as I have a set on my dually, but I'm not sure about the sizes for the SWR trucks.

It looks like the only 17" LTX-MS is the LT235/80R17/E and the P metric series. Oh well, I won't need any for a few years the way my AS tires are wearing.

I run michelin ltx m/s tires you get what you pay for !!!!!!!! ;)
That should be in context with what you are expecting to get.

For most, they are after a very hard compound that wears like iron. For someone such as myself or anyone that has modified thier truck much at all they need a softer compound that can still handle the towing loads in an e rating but not spin like greased lightning when racing or wet. The wet traction of the Michelin's is horrible, hopped up truck or not.

17's he posted his size?

Not to be picking on Toyo's I have them on my wifes car but, isnt the 80psi pressure rating an indicator of a weak carcass?

I have the new Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires 265/75/16R/E.

Did have one go flat when I somehow picked up a roll pin & it punched right thru the Kelvar Belt. Time will tell if this is actually better than a steel belt.

Seems to be wearing well (have almost 5K on the tires) but have noticed the back wearing a bit faster than the front under normal operating conditions.

Excellent in the snow. Can go places in 2 wheel drive than my stock Michelins required 4x4 engaged.
