Does anyone know any good sites that have close up pictures of torque converters? I recently purchased my 3500 and was told by the old owner that it had a aftermarket TC and valve body. I am trying to find out if this is true or not and if so, just which one I have.

I have been searching the net, but have not found anything yet. I would really like to see a stock one, that way at least I know I have an aftermarket converter. I removed the plate, but could not find any identifiable markings. It is gray in color and has a completely flat exterior surface and both pieces are welded together all the way around. It is not rounded like some of the automotive ones that I have seen. It does not look like it is a cast piece, but I can not tell if it is steel or aluminum. I did not try and scratch the surface. Any help that someone can give me would be appreciated.

Thanks!

There are 4 or 5 aftermarket performance converter builders out there (and then many different models/years). Did the original owner not know what was put in??? Other than asking him, it would be impossible to know what you have.

identifying converter

This is a bit of a long shot, but you could try contacting some of the aftermarket companies and see if they have a record of a sale to the former owner. Of course this assumes the sale is in the name of the previous owner... ... ... ..... as I mentioned, this is a bit of a long shot. Maybe worth a try depending on how badly you want the information.
