Hello all.

I have decided to upgrade my torque converter (among other things) to improve my towing performance.

I have a stock 47RE. My plan is to install 275 injectors sometime thereafter.

I've been reading volumes about the dozens of TC's out there and now I think I have too much information.

Can anyone offer any insight on the 'major players'?

Thanks.

Dave

Very pleased with my ATS converter. You are doing a smart thing by asking around some, research and choose whats best for you. I am not a transmission genius but I think all the major players surely make a good product.

I like my ATS set up, converter and valve body, but lot of guys (or girls) are happy with other vendors too. Do your research on TDR message board and you will get pretty good idea about your options for upgrading transmission.

M:cool:

Turns out it's a six-in-one-hand, half-dozen in the other thing anymore... even the companies that are supposedly not out to make a sale with every call are trying to push things now.

Check my signature for what I and 2 of my friends have in our trucks... I love it, but have learned a couple things in the last month or so about the company.

TC & VB

As stated above, they all make a decent TC. The major players would be DTT, ATS, Suncoast, Goerend Bros, Etc... . (sorry if I forgot someone)

Remember, the TC is only part of the stock transmission problem. If your going to spend the $$$, invest in a new VB too, so you get the higher line pressures so your clutches engage tighter! I too went with DTT & have ZERO regrets! Great product & GREAT service!

Research, Research, Research !!! Choose whats right for you & never look back! Here's a link for some good reading. Good luck on your decision!

Goerend Bros - Not far away from U in Iowa. Mines is being done tomorrow. Triple disc and complete rebuild with valve body. I'll let you know hoe it goes.

David, my advice is to do some homework and call 'em all.

Go with the people you feel the most comfortable with.

For me that was ATS. I feel they have done the most thorough job of engineering of all the trans builders. Clint understands the Fluid Dynamics, Mechanical Dynamics and Electronics of the 47RH, 47RE and 48 series Trans. Their TripleLok TC won't slip, I don't care how much HP & Torque you are making. It has been tested to 1,700 Ft. Lbs of Torque. Clint Cannon and his family run ATS, and they are great folks who stand behind everything they do 100%. They can ship a complete trans, or just the TC & VB.

If you want to know what they put into their TC, here is a Thread I posted last year when I came back from getting my ATS Stage IV. Good Luck! Clint's number is 800-949-6002

Well back from Goerend, All I can say is I'm very happy! Smooth shifts, no more slush box, seems like a few more ponys to the rear wheels. The guys there are very knowelgeable! They gave me more service than I could ask for, they let me boworrow a vehicle while they did the job, and the price was real fair I think for all the calling around I did. I can see paying for the advertising the big guys do. Give Goerend a call and talk to Dave.

Glad you like it Mike. Dave is a super nice guy, and I have yet to meet someone that was not happy with the work done out there.
