I have an 01 4wd with an automatic. How can I tell which transmission is in it?

Sure it's not the 48RE? When did Dodge start the 48?

2003 to my knowledge...

The 48re did not get used until after the first couple of months of 3rd generation production. All 2nd gen. have either a 47rh(12 valve) or a 47re 24 valve.
