Hey guys, I'm going to be in the market for a new truck soon. I want a truck with the 883? or 913? pump. Which years did thoese come in, 97-98? Where are the markings on the pump, and is they a way to tell by the VIN. I also know it need to be a 49 state manual, correct? I live in Santa Barbara, so I will most likey be purchacing the truck out of state, what should I be looking for? Thanks,

Mike

IIRC, the 887 pumps are on the '96 manual, and the 913 is on the '97-98 manual. The 913 is the sought after pump.

As old as the trucks are, do you still need to have a CA certified truck? EGR crap and all?

In Ca, there is no Smog check for diesels, But i was under the impression that the pumps from CA trucks were different than the 49 state trucks

No, you don't have to have a CA cerified truck! EGR crap and all. I got a truck out of Canada and there's no EGR at all on it. It has daytime running lights (Canada law) but no EGR. It did drive the little old fat ladies at DMV nuts trying to find the EPA sticker. I had to point to the Canandian Oak leaf sticker and say "here it is"! I understand that there is a benefit to not having the egr when using an exhaust brake on an automatic.

Hey now,,,,

that's a Maple leaf,,,not an oak leaf...

Is Jimmy Carter still your president??

,,,:) :). .

Hope you guys have a sense of humour...

Sorry 'bout that mate! :-laf Yes, we have a sense of humor:-laf And yes, the Jimmy is still president, not mine, but in some people's eyes he is. Let's not get into politics here. I could go nuts talking about ALL those "A" holes in Washington D. C. #@$%!

Have a super day!

I didn't think there was any difference between the 215hp pumps on the 96 vs the 215hp pumps on the 97-98. If there is, what is it?

However, if you buy a '97 or '98 at least you'll have the hydraboost brakes.
