Competition Pulling/Street Tires???

Competition 06 F-350 Vs 02 3500???

i'm going to start pulling this year but i can't figure out which setup to go with. all of the pulls i will pull in will be ran by EEP which means i can only have a 2. 5(62mm) inducer. would i be better off getting a bigger turbo and putting a reducer ring on it(thats if they allow it) or should i just get a 62mm turbo. what would be the best turbo i was thinking the phat shaft62 or i was going to get schieds lightning turbo and use a reducer ring.

Reducer ring is probably the way to go if you can get by with it.

If they do not allow the reducer ring then I would go with the super phat shaft 62 over the regular phat shaft 62 since it has the larger turbine wheel which would help you out alot.

I would try to go as big as you can on the exhaust side(turbine and housing). It will help make up for the inducer limitations by keeping drive pressures in check. Running an external wastegate wouldn't be a bad idea either. I would think using a HX 50, Hx55, or H2e as the foundation would work well... you can get a ton different exhaust/compressor wheels in these chargers for not too much money. These chargers use a T04 style flange, which means less exhaust restriction. Give J. R. a call (317-281-3130)!

does a hx55 bolt directly to the stock exhaust mainifold. and will a hx55 make 550hp like the phat shaft62 will. maybe i will go with the phat shaft for now and then pick me up a big used turbo off ebay and try different housings and wheels until i find something i like. what kind of modifications can be done to the compressor housing, do they just put it on a lathe and open it up to accept a larger wheel.

the trucks for sled pulling only i just purchased a 2006 civic to drive back and forth to work, so i don't really care when it spools. it's a 98 12v 2500 ext. cab swb 5 speed, haisley street puller clutch, billet input shaft, laser cut dv's, 370's,"0" plate,4gsk,afe mega cannon. the head is getting completely redone here in a month o-ringed,studded. titanium retainers and hardened keepers, hd valve springs, billet pushrods, inconel valves and port and polished. also an ats exhaust mainfold and some innercooler hoses. does anyone know if EEP allows reducer rings and is the hx50 going to produce more power than a super phat shaft66, guys are making around 700hp off of those.

j. r. adkins has a few different versions of the hx55. give j. r. a call 317-281-3130 he can help you out. you could also pm dlange i have his old turbo and he made 550+ with this turbo. this turbo was on his daily driver.

I have never seen an HX50 make anywhere close to 700 RWHP! If someone is telling you that they are ask to see the dyno sheet... ... I have setup trucks with the 50, 55, and SPS66, the SPS66 made the most HP on similiar configured trucks.

Kevin, I'm not very well educated on pulling rules, but if the only limit is the inducer size, you could actually run a B-1 on Steroids, which is a 63mm wheel from what I am told. A 63mm wheel is 2. 48". A 62mm inducer is 2. 44".

So if the limit is a 2. 50" wheel, you can run anything up to 63. 5mm.

i emailed EEP about the reducer ?, still waiting on a response. i didn't know that the B1 had a 63mm inducer. maybe that will be what i go with if i can't use a reducer. i'm wanting to be able to compete with the duramax's thats what is dominating the class at those pulls. mostly the guys from crank it up diesel kyle michaels and a few others

Don't know much about HX50's, but J. R. 's line of HX55 hybrids ranges in size from B1 to HT3B+. You need a ton of fuel to spool the big ones and they will support way over 700 hp.
