Well... I have not had any luck finding a stage 2 garrett gt3782r. Assuming I cannot wait for one to show up, what turbo do you recommend? Looking for a single that will work with my factory jacobs brake. Going to buy 50hp sticks eventually. Currently running the tst box. Goerend on order. Daily driver for work and also haul a 40ft gooseneck (14000#) all over the country. What works well? Quick spool and maybe a nice "sound"! ;)

Never had an exhaust brake. My favorite single was a 62/71/14, with a built 48RE there was no problem with lag, if lag is a concern, I would choose 62/65/14, or 62/65/13ss($)

My choices were within the day, now there are many more available combinations, any wheel size you want to pay for.

BD has a Super B Special, that I would consider if I go back to a single charger, which I might. While the compounds are smooth power, I miss the violence of a big single "lighting" , and the "thrust" it produces, not to mention the bodacious exhaust note, compounds really quiet the exhaust, My German Shepard used to hear me coming home almost a mile away, my Wife now says it's about two blocks...

I know that's juvenile, so be it.

Call them and they'll recommend a dealer- and the proper turbo for what you're doing. Install their manifold also at the same time.

I run the BD Special. It was on the truck when I bought it and is the only aftermarket turbo I have driven with. It seems a little slow and not to be doing much until 15lbs or so from there up to about 25 is pretty quick and from there up to 50-55 pretty dam fast and the truck is flying. If the rpm is up the spool up is really quick. Driving in third vs driving in fourth. For comparisons sake my previous truck was an 03 with smarty on sw3. So I would assume that the special will feel laggy, but when it is working hold on. I broke the tires loose on an onramp at about 60. I have also towed 12k, as long as rpms are up no issues with the pyro.

I had a HTT 62/14 without the smarty it spools a little slow I run my smarty on 3 works great. One thing I think you will find is Im not sure an aftermarket turbo will clear the firewall without (A) beating it in or (B) changing to a 2nd gen manifold. Source Automotive in Clackamas Oregon they are awesome to work with did mine 3yrs ago (300K+) still working Great.

I have the BD Killer B turbo and love it. I tow a 14k 5th wheel with no problems. There is a little more of a turbo lag than the stock one and it does throw a low boost code (PO299) once in a while. I plan on getting EFI live so I'm not worried about it. I recommend Through breed Diesel that's where I buy most of my online goodies.

The BD Super B Single is the closest in airflow and probably in spool, thou slower, to the Stage 2.

If your after a towing turbo I would say most any 62/65/12 would work well. I don't think you really want a 63/68 as a towing turbo, but I have never ran one.

It may not be, and nothing that an exhaust manifold and blankets won't cure. Thou those are good on the Garrett too.

No rush...

Since I am not in a huge rush I guess I will wait a few and see if the Garrett comes available. My transmission wont be here till april!

I tried to get a Killer Bee installed at May Madness last year but they couldn't come up with one. Do you recommend the Killer Bee as a good replacement on my truck? Should I go with the exhaust manifold as well? Lately I have been running empty most of the time but plan to retire soon and start pulling again, around 10K-14K trailer. How will the Killer Bee do on EGT's when pulling? How will it do when empty, will it help mileage at all?

I don't know if the Killer was available in May- it's a fairly recent product. The Super helped the mileage on my signature truck as much as the hubs did. I would definitely use their manifold, it's a big improvement over the stocker, and you'll probably be removing it anyway.
