ok, as you can see in my sig, im getting lotsa fuel!! im tryin to decide what to go with and i have a 6speed so i have a little more play and less driveability issues than an auto i know.

I have my smarty(SW4) stacked with my quadrace(on 130hp) maybe pushing 450hp(?) but not dynoed yet(with quad alone i did 403hp/711TQ) and get plenty of fuel especially when i tried SW9 alone! I know ill be able to spool a 64 easily and maybe a SPS66? Im tryin to decide on b/w the SPS66 and A5K in relation so driveability. I drive a bunch and alot is highway... ... ..... tow once or twice a year(maybe) and do the drags on the weekend... well whenever i see someone to race highway or stoplight... ... . I want stay away from buying a turbo every year and be able to put some miles on it since i do a good 30K/year. So the question is which is best in regards to driveability, durability, and good spoolup with room to spare as my mods increase?

You won't have ANY trouble spooling a 66 class turbo, the a5k I don't know. I think and I repeat think the A5K will spool a little slower. I too run about 30k mi per year and I have about 55k mi on my sps66 without any troubles and it has barked many times. I never tow any more than 3k lb, so I wont speak to towing manners. Not much help, I know, but it's all I got!
 
I just towed 10k with my SP66 and a manual trans - no problem at all. You just have to run the gears all the way out when up a hill... .
 
Send a PM to Joe Donnelly. IIRC, he has run both the A5k and 66. As I recalls, he likes the 66 better. Might have been in the latest TDR mag, too. Can't remember... ... ...
 
two very different turbos... go for the in-between... a silver bullet





I agree 110%... The AK5000 is good turbo for a compound system or with someone with even more fueling mods than what you have like Mach 6 injectors or something, but with what you've got the AK5000 would be a dog... Silver 66 would be the best bet.

I know it sound like a COMPLETE LIE... but after this turbo install and the associated parts like studs... . i will be calling it DONE on this truck and gettin a 12v for the FUN stuff..... so again SPS66 or A5K with no injectors but maybe the FCA Relentless diesel mod on the CP3
 
Trust me, you'll never be "done". . haha. . It's a sickness that most of us share here on the forums. You are now headed for a life of a smaller bank account, more woman problems, and the feeling of only being satisfied for short periods of time. . If you really don't plan on going with more fuel in the future (dual pumps, large injectors, etc), and the fact that you have a manual trans, I'd go with the SB.
 
You might want to check out HTT. I just installed the new HTT Stainless steel 71 series 66/16. I'm making about 560 hp and 1060 tq with room to grow. I was running a HTB2 64/12 and I really don't see much of spool up difference. The 66 spools at about 1800rpm and pulls hard all the way up to 3500rpm making 55 pounds of boost.
