Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) which van Aaken box?

I've seen that van Aaken has 2 boxes. The Smart box R and the V5. What's the diff? Is there any? How does it compart to a Edge EZ

I am interested in this also. More from the stand point does anyone have one of the new VAN Aaken boxes and how do they perform. Do they perform worse or better than the older CPC's they replaced. I know one added feature over the CPC is the new one's have the boost fooler. Here is a link to the Van Aaken website. The only differences in the two boxes is the way they attach to the truck. One uses the data port and the map and the other uses the plug going into the injection pump and the map.

The operation and HP torque gains are identical on either style box. The only difference is the connection method. When the trucks were newer folks didn't want to break the seal at the injection pump connection to install a box for warranty concerns, so a connection was designed to use the data port on the trucks wiring harness so the pump connection was not disturbed. Now that the trucks have some miles on them most of them are out of warranty so it doesn't really matter. Either way you connect it you get the same performance, we only stock the van Aakens that connect to the data port and the MAP sensor, no reason to have both as they do the same thing.
