While changing fuel injectors nut came loose from valve cover gasket and naturally fell down along push rod. Will the nut continue into oil pan and if not where does it go? And what do i do? Any help is appreciated. 2006 ram 2500 4wd. Thank you!
Man I’d pull that pushrod and fish it out with a pencil magnet for peace of mind. Should be sitting in the bore in the block for the pushrod likely held in place by the tappet.
Do Not rotate the engine until you have recovered the nut. The worst that can happen is it binds something up ... say snaps the camshaft ... engine comes out as scrap metal for replacement. Just saying for some if it wasn't for bad luck some would have no luck at all. It could fall into the oil pan and unknown time later you hit a bad bump that throws it into the rotating assembly with a check "your luck" can't cash.
Found a worm clamp I lost track of during an IP swap ... a week later after I pulled the loudly knocking engine out. Ran great for a week with that bouncing around in the intake ports until it didn't. Just saying.
