whine noise?

I've been hearing this intermittant whine/squeal noise on deceleration. Usually from about 30mph down. It gets louder as you slow. It reminds me like when my pool pump motor went out. Any ideas? I know if I take it in they won't be able to reproduce it. Oh, and it's not turbo whistle. I hear that seperatly.

My 07. 5 makes a similar noise. I took it in and the dealer said that they heard the noise but needed it for another day to try to find it, I could not leave it for them at that time. It seems to be originating on the drivers side in/under/around the steering colum. There seems to be a hydraulic relief type noise from the trans tunnel. I spent most of my working years trying to locate and repair unusual noises in vehicals, this one has me stumped. Any ideas?? Hydro boost? Loose linkage? Trans?

Probably new rfe 6spd auto trans, the allison whines real bad but you don't hear it as much with the DMAX, but in the big block gasser application it is a distinct whine. My neighbor has the gasser/allison combo and it sounds like a vacuum cleaner going down the street. I wonder if thats your noise, mine is the G56 so I hear different noises.

My truck is slowly starting to get this noise also. Sounds like some sort of wind whistle noise. But when I hit bumps in the road, it will skip it's toon. ?????

I had a whine/squeel noise that only happened when I really accelerated. It was a fairly easy fix, I left my wife home. :-laf
