so a few weeks back i posted white smoke on start up... for about 15 sec... maybe i was adding too much standyne..... today i had the same problem... white smoke on start up for about 15-20 sec and very faint rough idle... then goes away runs fine till next morning start up...
so today after i drove for about 1 hr... I stoped for about 20 min, and when i went to start up... . I had a very rough idle for about 1 min... no smoke drove off,did it again at the stop light for about another min... then ran fine all the way home... no codes and just checked under the hood... all is normal... no fuel leak in the injector lines and seem to be tight..... any thoughts?????thanks andre fuel filter was changed about 5,000 miles ago... always change every 10,000...

I had the same symtoms when mine was new, took back to dealer twice, they ended up just running some Chrysler injector cleaner/lube through it. The service manager gave me a bottle wheh I left and recommended that I add 8 oz. of TCW3 outboard motor oil at each fill up. Have done this ever since except one time on a trip from here to Knoxville Tenn. I figured the injectors had worn in and all would be well without the OBM oil. It started missing after about 600 miles, went back to the OBM oil and all is well at 60,000 miles. bg

found out the # 3 injector is the bad one... . on the electrical side it is ok... but seems to run fine for now..... maybe running some more standyne will clean it out

I'm not that good was getting the feeling it was an injector though.

2006 with 58,400 miles on it... do ya think it is a little pre mature to have an injector go out..... always good maintenance and fuel filter changed after every 8,000 miles... so it wasn't a neglect type of thing for sure... . or maybe the damn standyne I used for the last 2 mo... . thanks

If it were mine, I would drain the fuel filter, refill with fresh ATF, any kind will work, dump the remaining ATF in the fuel tank, start it and go take it for a drive, I think after 3 minutes you will see the problem gone, I have done that on 5 Diesels over the last 30 years, always works, I learned it from a Mercedes Tech many years ago, and no it won't do any harm to the injectors, or the pump, Ron

so by doing this you totally fixed the injector problem???? and worked well ever since... thanks

I don't think I would do that on a CR, at least not without talking to a tech first, could be a very costly mistake , hopfully OMB will chime in. Theres a good chance the injector are scored, added lubrication may may them work normal but can't possibly actually fix the problem, just patch it, but the patch could work for 100k. Also IMO the 58k miles could be part of the problem, if the truck sits outside and doesnt have a full tank a lot of condensation could get into the tank since you dont go through that much fuel. I know on mechanically injected stuff , the kind filling a filter housing full of ATF would work on, water kills the injectors, doesnt bother the pump too much whereas air kills the pump but doesnt really affect injectors,

"we run a fleet of dodges and the first 03 we got had all kinds of problems with the injectors. Bosch worked with us to find the problem. once we started using the new filter setup we have never had another problem. i stock a huge amount of filters for my equipment and to start with i used what i had in stock and modified a cheap steel base to accept the filter i wanted to use. over the last 8 years we have refined our selection to two filters and found bases that cost more but do not require lathe work. we have it down now to a one hour total time to build and install cost even with the expensive bases is about $60. you will never have to replace the stock filter and depending where you get your fuel you can get up to 200,000 miles between filter change. your 06 has two - in line six pin plugs on the driver side of the valve cover the first one has injectors 1-2 and three next has 4-5-6 take a ohm meter and check each injector it should read about 0. 4 ohms, if one is above 1 ohm the solenoid is bad and will cause what you have

Arron hit it on the head ATF is not recommend on our Common Rails

I see way more injector coils fail than mechanical failures on well maintained

Trucks

so for the last 2 weeks i have been using that power service fuel additive and seems too work very well... . smells like standyne, but my standyne did not seem to do anything, because i ran it in the fuel and never cleaned out the injector... . so all is well for now... . thanks for all the replies
