the saga continues and irp is right around the corner... .

the truck is smoking white at a idle when fully warm. . more so in drive sitting still. . but has been noticed then driving. the last urcurranance was last night, coming home from a members house. 20 minute drive and pull into the gas station. leave it running and go in and get a drink. come back out and put it in drive and back up. . white smoke out the stacks. . pulled off to the side and tried to get a wiff, but couldnt. . it does it more when in drive at idle then in neutral, but still does it. it is noticable in the daylight, but moreso in the dark under lights.

since this problem has started... ive changed the vp to a hr. changed the injectors from 100 to 125's and swapped the turbo out to another hx35. . i had front to back play...

is it the headgasket? a sensor? i have no codes and really no driveability issues either... i have no coolant oil mix in either that i can tell.

this problem has been coming and going for the last 2 months and want to fix it. .

but do i take it to irp? or leave it at home? before i ruin something. .

please help!!!!

mine did the white smoke only on startup when the vp was dying. cant remember it doing it when it was warmed up though.

Nearly everything I have read and been told is that white smoke is a indicator of an air leak in either the intake system or the fuel lines.

yes it has a rough idle... . but its the hrvp. . no other drivability issues. going to pull the injectors before i leave for irp and install a set of stockers. . hrvp is less than month old.

no seeing any coolant loss or mix. .

set the valves while your under the valve cover... ... it you have a valve that is not going closed the compression will be down and that will cause white smoke too, it's only a 10 min job

white smoke is un-burnt fuel

Black smoke is unburned fuel, at least on a warm engine, and usually caused by excessive fueling. Blue smoke is a sign of burned oil. Not sure what's causing your white smoke. What about coolant?

Side note: We had a tractor with a IHC DT466  that started alternately burning white and blue smoke. :{ Turned out there were busted valve lifters, and it was a bad lot of lifters. You could see the spider-cracks.

welll back from irp and still acting up with stock sticks in it... i did notice on the drive back a small amount of oil around the tip of the stacks... reinstalled the big sticks yesterday and going to recheck my valve adjustement today...

last night me and rowilson got the truck to act up on call. and it hazes and quits, then hazes then quits. . with the truck in drive. almost looks like its loading up with fuel. and the way it comes and goes. looks electrical. .

i did reinstall my 125hp injectors after it acted up on the way back from irp with stock sticks.

calling ii today and see what they have to say. i did recheck my valve adjustment. all good.

new iat sensor, new map sensor, borrowed hx35, swapped sticks, new hrvp. im getting to the end of the rope...

on and on we go... sent back the ip to ii to have checked. . and injectors and transfer tubes. ip and tubes were ok. injectors werent seating. so i got a new set. now all back together and still does it... ahggggggggggggggggggggggg. . so far it has a new map, iat, ip, injectors, and a borrowed turbo with no signs of leakage on the intake side. ive contacted bob wagner and ken mccabe to find a good ecm to check... wondering if the ecm is playing with pump timing. . either that or im pulling the head to have it checked. there are times that i get a wiff of oil and wondering if its not overfueling, but passing oil by some how. this is very nerve racking and im ready to pull my hair out... and advise or recommendations would help. .
