Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) white smoke at startup

I am sure this has been covered before but will ask the dumb question. On cold mornings when I start my 97 dually 12 valver it blows white smoke for about 30 seconds and shakes. After that its all good. Had the timing checked while I took care of the dowel pin and it was said to be OK. Any input would be appreciated.

I guess I already asked this question and to add I had the grid heating checked and actually had to replace, replaced the fuel filter and replaced the alternator belt.

Sounds like normal diesel engine operation.
