Hello from st louis,

This is first post after me and my father have been members for year or so, but we just lurk in the shadows until now...

Anyway, I have a problem with white smoke on start-up in the cold we have had lately (temp outside- 10-25 F)

Is it fuel, or (hope not) possibly oil?!?, but when i start to go, it goes away, and the other day it started, i jumped back in the cab and held the pedal to 1300 RPM's and let up, -magic-, now no smoke...

Call me worried, but this is MY first cummins (father is on his 5th),

thanks

TomeyGun

The white smoke at startup is unburned fuel. It is normal as long as it goes away when you get a little heat in the cylinders. They all do it when cold. Wait until you start that thing below zero and not plugged in, that is white smoke!!

EDIT: Forgot to welcome you aboard, so welcome aboard!!!

Thanks, i suspected so, but i had a hard time telling white from the light blue smoke of oil (i think), it started when i installed the Comp, anyway, thanks,

And its nice to finally BE aboard :D :D

Tomeygun, Do you plug your truck in ? Mine will smoke when its real cold if I don't plug in. Next time try cycle the grid heaters twice and see what happens, sometimes that helps.

Welcome Aboard.
