The other night I noticed (actually passenger noticed) LOTS of white smoke pouring out of tailpipe. .

It does it only at WOT from about 80-100+ m. p. h.

Now I have been looking in side mirror religously to check for smoke. But it only does it at high speeds. or WOT for long time which I only do in 5th gear so I am going fast. Running aprox. 2800 rpm's maybe a little more. .

I read in one post that white smoke out exhaust means more air than fuel mixture. . I want to know if that is correct.

I do have a stock fuel system. Actually 100% stock truck. 98. 5 5 spd 4x4 70,000 miles. . So im wondering if my lift pump is going out. or maybe its just the ****ty fuel pressure the stock pump gives anyways. . Any input would help me a lot. Thanks

Just had mine in for repair this week. Could rev engine to 2700 rpms and truck would shudder and puff white smoke. It ended being the Lift pump and the injector pump is on the way out. The first thing is to check the fuel pressure at idle and at WOT. I cannot remember what the presure readings are supposed to be but I think 12-15 PSI Idle and 6-12 PSI WOT. Again I am not 100% sure on these numbers, maybe someone else will chime in. When is the last time you changed your fuel filter? These are all things to check. Good luck.

My truck doesn't shudder or do anything out of the ordinary. And it does keep accellerating at a nice pace. . Just lots of white smoke coming out. .

I really need a fuel pressure guage. . I am going to buy one today...

Sounds like the timing is not advancing. Most of the time white smoke is incomplete combustion caused by retarded timing. Can be caused by insuficient fuel inlet supply or a malfunction in the timing mechanism inside the VP-44. Normally would also have a check engine light and fault code.
