Folks, truck ran fine up until a few weeks ago. Lift pump in my 04. 5 had been converted to the in-tank setup and died, no fuel in the filter. Installed a FASS platinum 150gph, cleaned out tank, installed FASS Suction tube kit. Truck started and seemed to run OK, I had an AFE stage 2 that I had ordered and was anxious to install while I was off, when I completed that install the truck had little or no power at WOT and I'm getting white smoke when shifting and little or no black smoke at all. There are no codes at the time, I did pump 15 gallons of diesel out of the tank when I added the FASS, put that back in and just added 10 gallons from a reliable station.

I'm not really sure if the issue started after adding the FASS or the AFE

Any gauges? Have you tried removing the filter to see if it changes how it drives? What suction tube kit did you use? Draw straw or one in the factory cannister?

I dont see the AFE causing you any problems, as long as youve got all your clamps and boots tightened up on all intake plumbing and no restrictions. Did you know right away when your lift pump failed? The white smoke is likely fuel related.

There is a good possibility that your issues are not related to either instalation. I would start by trouble shooting other areas that could cause your symtoms.

No gauges, I have a Boost, RP and FP on order from Geno's. I used the STK from FASS with the suction and return. I haven't removed the filter, I really didn't think that could cause any issue as it's pre turbo and I'm not getting any codes from the sensor.

Was on the freeway cruising around 60, downshifted to 5th to pass a truck and there was really no power. Got off at next exit, truck idled ok, 1st to 2nd OK, then no power, felt like truck was not getting fuel. Made it up to my house threw it in reverse to back it into the driveway and it died, could not restart. To troubleshoot the lift pump I checked the fuel filter canister which was almost dry, disconnected the line from the tank turned on the key and was not getting any fuel. Installed the FASS, bled the line up to the CP3, and truck fired up within seconds. I was wondering if I cut the 1/2 tube on the STK to close to the bottom of the tank, however I wanted to clear the lines before hooking up the CP3 and within a couple seconds it filled almost half of a gallon milk bottle, so fuel flow seemed good to me.

I didn't check for smoke at the time, knowing what I know now, I wish I had.

Although the scanner reports no codes or pending codes, when I do the key trick I'm getting P0243 WASTEGATE PRESSURE CONTROL PWM, which I cleared and it has not come back, but for two days now the scanner shows no codes but the check engine lite is still on.

Guess I will know better when I get the RP and FP gauges from Geno's I also ordered a CTS Edge so that will cover the boost side, I'm leaving out the Juice mod until I get all this figured out. At this point I'm leaning towards a stuck open wastegate, even though I have searched I really don't see a simple way to trouble shoot that? Remove the turbo?

White smoke low power (**RESOLVED**)

Just wanted to reply with the resolution, I had a break in splice s140, I was getting power out of C5 pin 26 but no power at connector c130. I spliced in a new wire and ran it past the splice between S140 and C130. All is resolved, codes reset and cleared, power is back!

I guess the truck must have been in limp mode.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Now the million dollar question how/who trouble shot this and what was the process that lead to resolution? thanks in advance :)

LOL Paychk. It was me, as Bob pointed out below, I had access to the procedure off the 2006 service manual. I'm pretty good with a meter and fixing electrical shorts/issues (my garage queen is a 71 Corvette) so lots of practice on that one. Dissapointed I couldn't find the splice as it's tucked in the back right drivers side of the engine compartment, it's wrapped in fabric. I had the battery tray unbolted, ABS moved, I just couldn't get enough room to unwrap it any further. But I did solder and heat shrink tube it, so hopefully it lasts.

My biggest challenge now is to find the wire-clips that I cut, which clip into the firewall and have a wire tie built into them #@$%!.
