Hello all. Today after dropping my kid off at day care, I got back in the truck and started it up and a cloud of white smoke came out the tail pipe. The truck was warm and had been running for 20 - 30 mins prior to shut down. It was only shut off for about 5 mins. Funny thing though the truck seemed to run a lot better after that, drove it to work with no problems. When I shut it down I did a code check, nothing, zippo! What's going on?? I just started using Diesel Kleen about a month ago would that be causing any problems?

I use Diesel Kleen religiously, I've never had that happen. But, I guess if its running better, and you have no codes more power to ya'.

Usually white smoke when the engine is warm or at N. O. T. , from my experience, means a bad VP, but that doesn't sound like the case.

A diesel that ' white smokes on start-up' is generally having a timing issue.

Keep looking, I bet the 0216 code will show up. That is a bad VP-44 or it is slowly dieing.

Sorry for the bad news! I'm going thru it too.

Great!! Well I hope the warranty will cover it. I just had the Turbo replaced under warranty a couple of weeks ago. Now this ...
