For the past week I have been getting a pretty decent puff of white smoke on startup and when I put the truck into gear. I am going to change the fuel filter Monday (first time in four years I dont have a spare filter onhand:rolleyes: ) and I hope that solves it, but has anyone ever seen this before? I just cant shake the feeling that the Vp44 is dying for some reason, but this is really the only problem that it exibits. Oh ya--fuel pressure never drops below 12psi under any conditions.....

mine does this occasionally when I forget to let the grid heaters cycle(not letting the wait to start light to go off). Other than that no smoke unless I get down on it too hard.

Can be several things. Plugged fuel filter, air in fuel supply, lift pump problem, bad injector. Are you throwing any codes?

Mine does it on start up only when the grid heater does not cycle and it seems to idle different it seems smoother and not as loud of a rattle but once it is warm it don't smoke a bit and idles like normal Aaron
