I've been noticing some white/greyish smoke at low rpms. usually dies off around 1700 or so. when I get on it I get a greyish cloud of smoke, not a nice pretty black one :( seems to come back when it idles at a stoplight. Smoke isn't to terribly thick, just a haze.

Maybe the valves need to be adjusted? Injectors not up to snuff?

TIA

Nathan

Also been having alot of oil burn off. Specially when I tow. Haven't had any puddles so it's not leaking out anywhere.

and the pump is still unmolested by me. don't know if it was before me but doesn't show any evidence. ie. tamper resistant bolts look good and no scratches on the outside of the afc housing

do you know if your fuel psi is up to snuff (20 psi at idle)(worn overflow valve)?

have you changed the notorious fuel return line?

Has the lift pump been changed (are you more than 150K?)

Its possible that the timing is a bit retarded too.

Let us know. Andy

no the overflow valve or the lift pump hasn't been changed since I've had the truck. It's been alil over a year since the timing was set to 15.

Is the fuel return the steel line that runs down where the engine/transmission bolt up? if so then it's been replaced w/ a rubber one.

220,000 miles on the truck

thought I heard somewhere the overflow valve makes a squeling noise when it goes out? and is it the big bolt towards the front of the pump on the passenger side?
