I. I Phat shaft. Needs machining for silencer ring. Nobody around here has a clue. Hook me up w/ a link where I can ship it.

I think any decent machine shop could put it on a lathe and get it done but it will probably take a bigger ring and snap ring than a stocker so finding the appropriate silencer ring might be the challenge.

haven't really eye-humped an S300 recently, but being as they have the same inlet OD, I would have to assume that you could have one cut to accept a factory silencer ring.

worth the time/money to do it? not IMO, but I'm sure someone will chime in with contact info for some one that'll do the work

I have a DD Jammer turbo, and while I love the performance, I MUST get something done about the incessant piercing whistle. A TAG helped a lot, but noise needs cut by another 75% at least to get back down to where the stock turbo was (the noise level I am shooting for, good luck).

Vaughn, if that's a 6 blade HX40, that's about as loud as it gets. I had mine built w/ a silencer housing. I never used it, but you can have your housing machined. I could even let you borrow a housing to get machined. I have either HX35 or H1C style 60mm housings depending on what your turbo was built out of.

a silencer ring and a BHAF will cut the noise considerably vs. no silencer and a free flow filter

That's cool, thanks for the offer Forrest. Since I have the '96 and with winter coming I'll probably just park the '98 and send the housing off to Source Automotive or somewhere to have it machined. The Jammer is HX40 based and probably 6-blade. I already have a BHAF on it, but since the rest of the truck is quiet the turbo whine is too intrusive and gets old when towing.

You need to expose yourself to a lot of loud noise, Gun fire is an excellent example. This will remove your high frequency hearing and you will no longer be able to hear the turbo whine. Everytime my buddy rides in my truck he comments on the turbo noise, I can't hear a thing. This also comes in helpful with my wife and children as they have speak in a higher pitch and I can only hear them half the time :-laf

Discalimer: Do not try this at home. The experiment was conducted by a tarined professional in a closed combat zone

From the time it left here it took about 10 days. Cost $100. Pricey? New silencer baffle & 2 snap rings. One behind & one in front.

I swear by the TAG II. This make a huge difference on my truck. This was the reason I had it done.

I have a "pre" TAG I (prototype Dave gave me) in front of the turbo and since I had a prototype TAG III laying around as well I stuck it in the opening of my BHAF. Guess that makes me double-TAGged :-laf
