I've got a 2500 turned into a dually, so because of the extra training wheels in the back the tires shouldn't be the limiting factor.

What I'm worried about is the spring pack - I don't have the 3500 overload springs.

I ordered and tried to install airbags but due to clearance issues with MBRP duals I won't get them in for the trip this Monday. I'll need to go without airbags. :{

So..... who has done 3k lbs in the bed for long hauls??? How did it handle?

I've had 4200 lbs (1 cube of pavers) in the back but that was short distance locally at slow speeds. It sat low but did it.

My camper is 3100 lbs wet, but without all the stuff that usually gets dragged along. The factory dually rides real nice with it and the suspension is factory stock. I usually have the cruise set at 72 and only feel pushed/pulled around when going by a bus or old COE semi. The training wheels really help.

I have hauled 4400 lbs from florence, KY to wyandotte, MI and back in the bed. it is like 237 miles, and i've done it at least 50 times.

But you've got a 'true dually' with the overload springs. I don't have them so not sure how it will handle.

I see you live in Oh. I'm headed out there Monday to pick up a lathe just north of Cleveland... . which is the reason for my question. Too funny... .

I make trip reguarly to Indiana and no problem. had the 1 ton spring modification per the service bulleton years ago & they are starting to sag now like the 2500 springs did, but no problems with single rear wheel. ( they take off the overloads when they put on the 1 ton springs per tsb) 32' gooseneck with 8 to 15,000 on top of it. Trailer weighs 7800 empty. 2 toolboxes and 105 gal fuel tank in bed. just get in it and mash it.

I carried 2 tons of pellets on the back for 50 miles,no problem. I wasn't even close to bottoming out. Even passed a car going up hill on the highway, cummins didn't even know there was something on the back.

Mine is 03 2500 reg cab long box stock springs with a set of timbrens to control side roll. My slide in camper weighs in at 3200 Ib. loaded to go. Several trips from Ontario to the west coast including one for 12 weeks to Alaska, no issues, the whole set worked like a charm.

Question: what is the TSB issue regarding springs. Was it just for 3500? or did it also apply to 2500's?

3000 lbs is just when the trucks start to ride nice... I've had two pallets of pavers in the bed many times. I get 2. 5t loads of aggregate in the beg as well. They handle fine and in fact they ride really nice.

I carried an 800 gallon diesel fuel tank in the back of my 2500 about 250 miles one day. It did alright mainly because I had the airbags jacked up to 110 psi. :eek: I wonder why I had to have the rearend rebuilt?:confused:

Have SRW 3500 hauled a load of ceramic tile in the bed 200 miles at hwy++ speed, and heavy traffic. Truck, tile and me Weighed 12126 lbs, rode well,a little stiff but no problem, springs were completely flat. :)

I stacked 110 10" blocks in the back of my short bed once at about 50lbs each around 5500lbs. Looked like a pyramid stacked to the top of the cab. I was riding on the rubbers.

Sounds like the Ram could take some serious weight in the bed. Wonder at what point does the integrity of the bed itself come into play? I would still try to distribute the load using a sheet of plywood or other... but I guess that depends on what sort of load you've got.

Trip got rescheduled for next week due to snow in Cleveland, so maybe I'll be able to get the Pacbrake airbags in after all! Oo.

I just did 420 miles with 2984lbs in the bed. 75mph. I have '06 2500 quad cab without over load springs, I do have Timberins(sp) overload snubbers but they are cut in half for a better ride empty. It is a bit much but not crazy.
