Who Has Had Their Tank Dipped??

Just taking a freindly poll.

I'm curious who has had their tank dipped. If you have plase state the circumstance? (Auction, Rodeo etc... ) and state.



I personally have not and just wanted to see if it happens as much as everyone talks about it.

not so funny. i got dipped 3 times in less than one hour! they just set up a road block and waved people in. the 3rd time i was like "hello again yes you can take more of my fuel can i go yet" damn big brother watching everything we do.

Last year out in the middle of nowhere in WV (that's just about everywhere here ) on a 2 lane state road. They were pulling over all diesels big and small.

Around here they look for "Farm" plates, an auxilary tank in the back, or a farm name on the truck. They have also been known to go to farm auctions and start going down the line.

:--) Twice!! Once last fall and again this spring. Just west of Hot Springs, Arkansas about three miles from my home. Both times at the same wide place in the road they set up a roadblock and waved all diesels over for a check. Even crawled under my truck to check for extra tanks, lines or something.

Nope, haven't been dipped, or even seen a roadside inspection of any kind in recent years. I think the state is too broke. I used to see inspections quite a bit near the Port of Sacramento. Just as well, I hate to have them waste my time just to find out I'm not breaking the law.

I've never heard of them dipping tanks anywhere here in TN. However, I hear its a ritual up in Louisville, KY at the Farm Machinery Show every year.

Once. They setup under a freeway, catching guys going to a Dairy Auction. I passed, of course.

this is just the typical type of bureaucratic bullying, abuse of power & government intrusion/trespass into my life & personal property i resent & despise. who in the hell gives them the right to arbitrarily check my truck for anything & what's their probable cause other than needing their pathetic, overly self-important, self righteous egos stroked by pushing their authority around and intimidating the very people paying their salaries. if this is what they resort to in order to collect a government check then there's obviously too many of these bottom feeders earning a living sucking up our tax dollars. what if i don't let them stick my tank regardless if i'm on private or public property??????????????? what are they and what can they do to me???????? this is the very same crap that got randy weaver's wife shot in the head while holding her child. government like this is scary government and maybe a few of us need to show our balls & refuse having our tanks sticked. i run regular pump fuel so i'm clean & have nothing to hide, i just resent the accusation, intrusion & prohibiting me from moving about freely. it reminds me of those old wwii b&w movies where there gestapo surrounds a suspect at a train depot asking to see "their papers". i'm buying a locking gas cap just to stop this crap. they ain't sticking me & if they want in i "lost the keys". they can kiss my fat guinea *** if they think i'm taking this laying down & will fold like a cheap camera & let them push me around. they can take their tank sticking stick and ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... sorry for the rant but i just really have a problem with abusive government thinking they can do as they please till challenged. well i'm laying down the challenge, come & try sticking my tank and see who's still able to eat corn on the cob. i don't let my wife drive my truck, one of those civil service test-takers isn't touching it. come on guys, draw the line in the stand & stick up for yourselves. this is crap.

Once in a rest area in Alabama, were pulling all diesels in, a buddy of mine did not stop until they caught up to him about a mile down the road. $250. 00 fine for not stopping.

175,000 miles on my truck and never been dipped. Been to a few farm sales too. Got a aux. tank in the bed too.

go right ahead and tell them they cant dip your tank. every time you say no it $1,000 no if ands or buts about it. say no and pay up buddy. think im kidding i've been there and done it, the wallet didnt think it was so cool.
