... and for those with high milage; what are you general thoughts about your truck and what problems have you had?

Turning 600 miles soon and already have almost $2K toys added! Can't wait to tow!

John

I'm over 25,000 miles and getting between 17 and 18 MPG empty depending on how windy it is here in Kansas with my Edge with attitude set at level 1 and the Volant powercore. Not bad for a 4x4 with 4. 10 rearend gear. As for problems, just the reflashes that everyone else is suffering through.

I'm now over 145,000 miles now and any problems I've had are all posted on this site. I get between 9 and 10 mpg towing up to 24k and yesterday made a 550 mile run with just the truck. The mileage was 15. 9 mpg hand calculated.

wow i just really must have gotten a bad apple, mine is an 08 mega 4x4 dually with 3. 73 and cant see 15 unless im doing 55 downhill and a tailwind!

Before the Edge and Volant intake that was the norm for me too. When I tow I don't worry about MPG because... ... ... ... ... ... . well I'm towing.

Hmmm, I thought 40,000 miles a year was a lot of driving, can't imagine 100,000. You must live in your truck. :)

I can and have put upwards of 1300Kms in a single day in before needing to sleep, that works out to 812miles, so I can see EB having 145,000miles on the clock no problem.

With 6000 miles on the odometer and running empty, combined city and highway and no towing, I was getting 12. 5 MPG hand calculated. Up from 11 MPG new. We just got back from Glacier National Park Saturday the 5th, towed 7000 lbs most of the 5022 miles (Kansas City to Glacier and back) on that trip and averaged 10. 5 MPG. Average MPH while towing was 65-67. My signature doesn't show my 3. 73 gears. I'll fix that soon.

Running the AC while towing seems to drop the MPG by 1. 0 according to the overhead and by hand calculating.

Just filled up today and reset the overhead while empty and it went crazy with 18 MPG. Maybe the motor "broke in" on this trip. Time will tell in a couple of weeks or so when I fill back up.

BTW John Haggerty, you're gonna love towing with your truck. These things were built for towing. Crossed the continental divide twice. Once in Montana and again on I-70 in CO on the way back East. Had to downshift to 4th on the divides and a couple of other grades but it held 60-65 MPH when I asked it to. Now that I think about it CO had a posted 55 MPH on their divide but that was no sweat. On the down grades I hardly ever had to touch the brakes. More often than not I had to get back into the throttle because the EB and transmission were slowing me down to much. What fun!!

Running a 28' flatbed with about 4k in weight I get around 12. 4, empty trailer it jumps to 14. 3, without trailer stays around 18. 6. going 65 from florida to Oklahoma I pulled out 20. 2. Truck has 139k and runs like a wildfire. Can't wait till I get brave and remove the DPF which has been the only pain in the butt.

On a recent trip from Florida to South Carolina, I got my best mpg so far. 18. 5 MPG running light and keeping RPM down around 1800 at about 75MPH. hand figured. Overhead shows 20. 3MPG

We have 106,000 miles on ours. At 97,000 we had to have the entire front end rebuilt to include both hubs, all tierod ends, and all four ball joints. Other than that we haven't had any problems with the truck. We have the H&S DPF delete kit and Edge juice w/Attitude, and a S&B air intake on it. truck gets around 22mph on the highway empty, and around 12-13 mph pulling a trailer.

I finally figured out to set the cruise control, and it will hold close to your set speed on the downgrades, I was doing the same thing, tipping in some throttle, and it would ease in and out of the EB. Steeper grades would require clicking in to TOW/HAUL, most of the time, I leave it in the regular position. Towing is approx. 16,500 GCVWR. Cruise is so smooth, I really like it.

Did you do something special when setting the cruise? I'm planning my first towing trip 8/1. Will be going from Tennessee to Nova Scotia if all goes as planned, pulling my 32' Cameo 5er. :)

i have about 9000 miles on my 08 2 wd long bed quad. the truck stays at about 1950 rpm at 74 mph with 3. 73 axle and mileage seems to swing a little. 14. 5 mpg pulling a double axle trailer with a small back hoe tractor last week and it has hit 20. 9 goin 75 on the highway with a light load , it seems to vary maybe the dpf is in regeneration on some of these trips but got 20. 1 hauiin a big load of oak firewood thru the texas hill country, if i can keep my foot out of it and it doesnt shift much it seems to like that .

i pulled the muffler out and installed the magnaflow twin 3. 5" right side exit dual exhaust and it has toned out nice once i got the pipe securely welded and secured properly with band clamps.

Who Has Highest Mileage 6.7

Just got back from a trip from Vale, Oregon to Jackson, Wyoming with my 2008 Megacab pulling a 4 horse trailer with living quarters (no horses). The truck/trailer combination weighed 17,350#. Mileage on the truck when I left was 12,000. Total mileage for the trip was 923. I drove 65mph when I could with the exaust brake and tow/haul mode both activated. The trip included going over 10,600 foot Jackson Pass (10% grade) in both directions. Average mileage, hand calculated, was 12. 01 and the console readout average was 12. 4.

The truck ran great as usual and the engine transmission combination is a dream to tow with. Going up Jackson Pass I was able to accelerate whenever I wanted and going down the combination of the transmission and exaust brake made it a piece of cake. I barely had to use the brakes.

I get between 14 and 15 empty as long as I don't drive over about 65. Don't really like that very much, but I bought it to tow and it is very good at that!
