Who hates their JOB

Just curious. If you do hate your job how long have you been doing it?

Job.

I like my job its all the politics involved that I hate, but thats one of the drawbacks of working in city goverments I guess. 16 years in, 7 more to go.

I luv my job!!!! I turn in my wrench for a school book. I teach Automotive now. I just wish they apid better!!!

8 years as an electrical/mechanical maintenance technician, 5 of which I've spent at 3M. The first 3 were at Johnson Controls, worst job I ever had.

Got into maintenance as I'm a single father, needed to stay home with my son.

I was a foreman/journeyman electrician with a major electrical contractor before this, and I miss it. It was a very satisfying job, big kick to the ego, lots of fun, even the travel was fun.

Now with my son about to go off on his own, I've contemplated a return to electrical construction. Not until we get out of this recession , though.

Every job I ever had, the single biggest problem was bad management, or micro-management. Back-stabbing is the #1 occupational hazard in America !

Big second on the politics. My boss says it's a butt*%@#in' war around there! And I say, "he's well armed" for that war! I can put up with it a lot better now that I'm vested in my early pension. 16 yrs at this place and 10 yrs in a service truck before that - same trade. Craig

The way things are right now, I just wish I had a job. Layoffs all over and many people competing for the same few openings.

I was in the same are for almost five years then jumped around a bit for four years now back to the original for ten years. Maybe I am complacent but very comfortable. Lately though, the mood is pretty grey with cutbacks and layoffs. Company stock in the comode. No clearity in the future. And recently, four times the responsiblity with OTJT. Still beats flippin burgers though.



But then look around. Try buying American made clothing. All those xmas toys for the kids, China. Read in the paper today; EPA fining CAT millions for pollution. Not to defend CAT but someones going to pay those fines. Here in PA, a medical crisis coming on because the doctors are bailing due to high insurance. (A woman in Philadelphia awarded 10 million because after a CT scan she could no longer see the future?) ENRON? Corporate rape, plunder and pillage big time.

I really like what I am doing now, too bad unemployment does not pay!! J/K Six years at the last company. I spent the last 2 years as an industrial automation designer. Recession hits and half the company is laid off in 6 months later. Oh well. The demand for highly skilled people is not a lot different around here ( WI ) than it was a year ago, so no worries. In 6 years I had 7 bosses (promotions, laterals, and attrition) and they were mostly decent, only one that should be in a river somewhere. Small companies tend to be a shade better than the big ones for politics.

Retired at 49, been doing that for the last 4 years . Got one of those offers you can't afford to turn down , but I have to admit I alway liked working, I think it was the great people that I worked with. Yes I know about politics I spent 28 years with the largest communications company in the world. One thing I do feel good about is that I never fired anyone. People are often put into positions that their skill sets don't match. Since I worked for such a large company with so many different types of job opportunities I was alway able to move people into a position that matched their skills (the majority of these people were mid level managers and had good track records). I still hear from a lot of the people that I use to work with and I guess it is getting tougher every year. Glad I am retired. Still have a boss, the wife gives me "honey do" lists everyday

Shame on me, whining about it, when many people can't find work. I'm really blessed. I just wish the people you have to work with were not so self-centered, then most people's outlook on their jobs would improve 150%. Greed, and selfishness, is the root cause of most unhappiness at work. There's no need for that.

hate my job?????

worked as a registered nurse about 20 yrs. liked what i did for about the first 10 years. tolerated it for the next 5. still do a good job for last 5 years. however, much has changed and i never suggest to anybody to get into this profession. wife bailed out about 5 yrs. ago. makes less enjoys more. here in florida it pays well and i have alot of control over my work schedule. six more years and done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been in current job for a little over 20 yrs and I still love my job. What I've noticed is that this is the ME generation. People will screw over the entire workforce for whatever it is that THEY want. I guess I'm just getting old but I look at other's jobs and I feel blessed every day with what I have.
