Monkey Business Rules in the Corridors of Power

Cummins vs Duramax The Video

In today's paper (Ventura County Star) there is a letter to the editor from an outrage citizen, It reads below:

Invasion Of Privacy

I have just learned from my Fiancee that when she took her son for a sports physical there were several questions asked- in the guise of "health-related "items-that are nobody's business.

Questions that were asked by Coastal Pediatrics in Ventura,California were:
Are there any firearms in you household? #ad

If so, how many firearms are there? #ad

Are thay keptlock-up? #ad

The questions were asked by a the childs doctor without the parent present. The information was being used by
the American Association Of Pediatrics.

This is not acceptable! If AAOP wants to know if I own weapons I think they should stop by sometime, I'd be glad to offer a close inspection from the barrel end of any number of firearms I might own, or keep lock-up.

I hate to see such underhandedness. You know that that data would only be used to support liberals' statistics, eventually. On a "brighter note", currently, here in Nevada, my firearms are counted only by me #ad
(and my wife #ad
).

my kids like going shooting, too, Becky has an old Marlin model 60 . 22LR semi-auto (aged like a fine wine!) and RJ has an older Springfield bolt action with a little 5 or 6 round clip magazine (and peep-site!) (we just got it at one of those possibly doomed gun shows a couple weeks ago, so haven't put anything down the bore yet, except for a cleaning rod)... i think he likes the idea of a microMauser that's so similar to my old CZ24 8mm... here's what he looks like: #ad
(all those WalMart ads have made him pretty famous LOL)

My kids have been asked the same questions. Unfortunately I have not been there when they were asked. I would really like to be able to respond to their questions. They would never forget me and they would never ask my kids again. There is no reason for this kind if garbage going on in the medical establishment. I too think that this information will be used in some leftist propaganda of some sort. No good can come of it, therefor it should be stopped!

I recall a movie a few years back starring Patrick Swayze entitled 'Red Dawn' in which the US was invaded by Russians and Cubans. The bad guys confiscated all guns using registration numbers leaving the public defenseless agains the invaders. My German grandmother told me stories that at the end of WWII, the area that became East Germany started off with behavior like this. The communists grilled the children at school, asking about guns, posessions and what their parents talked about! Suddenly, people were disappearing in the middle of the night, and each block had its own 'liason' to the superiors who always seemed to have more food than all the others on the block. Could this be the start of something similar? Food for thought, gentlemen.

Yep, they ask the same questions when ever my two daughters go to the ped. Dr. What's up with this C@@@. None of their business IMHO.

I got no kids, so no worries there.
I'm conserned with a neighbor "bugging out" if they see me packing my truck before I go to the range. Theyre all pretty new (I've been here 20 years, but now have over 5 new neighbors where it used to be woods #ad
) we do get along well. *But* you never know how somebody may react to something that they may not like, or "approve of". I DO keep everything cased and unloaded.
I loved Red Dawn. One of my favorites. Note how they get the form 4473's to find the gun owners... .

I remember something like this about 65+ years ago ... hummmm ... sounds like the Hitler Youth movement. Get the kids to rat out their parents about their guns, thoughts about der Furer, and their religious beliefs. All in the name of the FatherLand and the good of the public. It all started out innocent enough, then came the knock at the door and accomodations were made for you at the nearest camp.
As it is said, those who are ignorant of the past are condemed to repeat it.

. . an article in the local paper last year when this first got exposed. Quoted a pediatrician in California who said that as far as he was concerned, the topic of firearms was a public heath issue and if parents did not want their kids questioned, they could darn well take their kids elsewhere. He was refusing to treat children who would not answer.

I guess I now know that I won't allow my child (she's only 11 months old) to be seen by a doctor without my presence. To the doctor that won't treat children that won't answer - you can bet that MY child won't answer and will be proud of it. We'll take her to a different doctor gladly!

All this makes me glad I live where I do. The other morning I'm at the store, which is located on the main highway through Mason. I look out the front windows and two of my customers are admiring each other's deer rifles. One of them grabs it up and sites it across the street at the old peanut plant to check out the scope. I go out there and tell them, "Now yall are gonna cause a wreck. Some poor folks from up north are libel to drive by and see that and mess their britches!" LOL Do me a favor, liberals, stay in your stupid cities wringing your hands and leave the rest of us alone! We're doing just fine without your baby sitting us, thank you. Oh ya, my doctor has a deer head mounted in his examining room, no gun questioning here unless it's, "What caliber did your dad use to get that big buck I saw him with the other day?" #ad

Bottom line, stay close to your kids and educate them so they are not played as damned fools! Be sure and take them target shooting, this is a nice way to spend time together. History repeats itself due to the ignorance of those simple minded losers.

I need someone to explain to me why so many "All Americans" take on the same s**t ideas as those morons my Dad was killing in Europe 50+ years ago?@#%

The movie "Red Dawn" was mentioned earlier. John Milius directed, and I believe wrote the screenplay for this flick. One of the few pro gun types in Hollywood.

Another movie of his that didn't get much notice but should have was "The Wind and the Lion" with Sean Connery, Candice Bergen and Brian Keith. Brian Keith played Theodore Roosevelt and Sean Connery played a Berber Chieftain in Northern Morocco. Connery's character kidnaps Candy baby and holds her for ransom. Roosevelt sends the Atlantic Squadron to settle things.

Anyways, in one scene Sean Connery and Candy baby are playing chess and discussing world politics etc. Sean asks Candy "what kind of rifle does this Roosevelt use?" "A Winchester!!" exclaims Candy. "Winchester? Winchester? I have no knowledge of this rifle" sez a bewildered looking Connery. He looks to his men for their input and they too are dumbfounded. With perfect timing, Candy boldly states, "You will. " Great scene.

Besides being a great story well told, this movie is a great period piece. You Marines in the audience will enjoy the charge on the palace near the end and their little skirmish with some very scary looking German soldiers.

I highly recommend this movie. Brian Keith's portrayal of T. R. is fantastic. (And so what if a Berber chieftain speaks with Scottish brogue?)

Another John Milius movie worth watching is "Farewell to the King" with Nick Nolte. Sorta reminds me of "Lawrence of Arabia" in some ways. Not nearly the epic but still a good story. (And of course, EVERYONE should see "Lawrence of Arabia". )

OK, enough of my would be movie critic tirade. #ad
