I'm trying to find out who is the manufacturer of the tow mirrors on the RAMs. I'm trying to get some technical info from them. I called CIPA but they said they were not.

Ok... FINALLY got the answers I was looking for... ... Thanks Bill Lins for pointing me in the right direction. . :) After calling Magna 4+ times and poking multiple selections on my phone, going thru various Michigan Magna phone directories, I stumbled across a guy, who was VERY surprised I was able to get to him. I couldn't tell exactly how I contacted him, but thanks to Ms Nice lady who listened to my saga and connected me to him. . By the way he spoke, with intimate knowledge of RAM mirrors and products, I'm fairly certain he was an engineer or the next best thing.

He told me that 2012 mirrors(driver side only) will NOT work on the 2013 as they have put the temperature sensor inside the driver side mirror housing. Thus, if you replace the driver side mirror, it will disconnect the sensor. You can put a 2012 on the passenger side as nothing was changed with it. .

Now I'm guessing but i would suppose a lot of functions are tied into the temp sensor such as DEF heater amongst other things. ( I thought I read the DEF tank has a heater)

So anyhow, looks like for now, until RAM or Chrysler come up with a tow mirror package cheaper then $1200 for 2013 (only $400 for 2012) I'll have to deal with multiple headlights flopping around on multiple mirrors on my "slip-on" mirrors, hell backing into the covered berth and the embarrassment of having a top dog, class leading tow capacity diesel truck with sissy *** mirrors on it... . LOL

Bill, I'm not sure. Didn't think to ask. He did say the aftermarket will have a hard time duplicating it.

So you cannot swap power tow/manual flip 2013 mirrors for the lame power folding mirrors on a 2013?
Aksing as a friend found a 2013 CTD he likes but wants the dealer to swap them out, one dealer said yes the other said it cannot be done per Chrysler's tech.

I'm not sure about that. I can't see why that would be an issue if you're taking power mirrors, swapping out for manual flip ups if you already own the truck.

Dealer swapped them on the lot with another truck and everything works!!! Actually one the salesman did the work.
Chrysler told them it would not work.
