Still trying to dedice between Larime and SLT. I don't like the looks of the Aluminum wheels on the Larime. I prefer the chrome. Are the wheels a option on the Larime? Thanks, Doc

The Aluminum wheels are standard on the Laramie, but you can get it with the chrome wheels and you'll get a $100 credit.

nobody i have talked to likes the alum. one guy went with the furd b/c the dealer told him that if he bought the laramie those where the only wheels he could get. some of these dodge dealers are dodges worst enemies:mad:

I prefer the alum to the awful ugly chromed steel... Unfortunately mine came with the steelies.

Anyone want to trade?:D

The alluminum wheels are much lighter in weight, and they are easier to balance according to the Tire shop I go to all the time.

I wouldn't mind some different center caps for mine. They're what make them not as attractive as my '01 alloy wheels. Maybe some chrome center caps with a C in the middle.

I really don't care for the new alloys. My first 03' had them and they looked like primed steel wheels. Therefore, 03' number two has the chrome steel wheels. It's a shame because I really loved the alloys on my 01' 2500.

I'm looking for some aluminum wheels. If anybody wants to trade for mine and some $$$, or just sell me theirs let me know.

I actually like my Laramie wheels too - though I'd happily replace the plastic center cap. One thing - I caught a nail in a rear tire, so I got it all jacked up and all the lugnuts off - and I couldn't get the wheel off! I yanked on it quite a bit, but since I didn't want to either pull my truck off the jack onto myself or damage the wheel, I ended up calling AAA. Their guy came and levered it off with a huge screwdriver - turns out the aluminum wheel reacts with the steel hub and sticks pretty bad. Just a heads up!

I like the alloy wheels. I think they're the same that you're all talking about, although mine came with the SLT Sport package.

I'm allergic to chrome - I've removed every single bit of it from my truck except for the Ram head on the grille. I think I'll leave that. :)

My wheels were stuck on too. Anti-sieze on the front did the trick. I haven't fought with the rear ones yet.

Don't the dually's come with different wheels than the SRW's? When I was looking at trucks, I didn't much care for the chrome wheels that came with the laramie SRW, liked the aluminum a little better (but wasn't thrilled with them either)... but asked the dealer if I could get four wheels like the front wheels on the dually (I liked them best), he said no!

Center Caps

I'm with ya'll on the center caps for the alloy wheels. I took the center cap off to put my lug locks on and thought that the rims might look better if a flush cover were made that continued the spoke pattern into the center in some way. Shouldn't be too hard to use the same fastening system that the current caps use. Any machinists of plastic fabricators out there?

The wheels are bowl shaped so that you can mount two concave faces of the wheel together on each side of the rear axle, the same type wheel is used in the front of the truck and the front hub is made differently to facilitate that. The the rear inside dual wheel is mounted in the same fashion that the front wheel is and the outside rear wheel is mounted in reverse.
