Time for a new thread on this forum.

(1): is there anyone who makes a dumping flatbed (with removable sides), that also has a hiden Gooseneck hitch in the bed? Also need a rear plate for either a standard receiver hitch or pintle hitch.

(2): who is a good reputable manufacture with quality materials? Stahl, Warren, Crysteel, Knapheide, etc...

(3): What type of hoist system would be best; scissor or convention piston, low or high pressure (low with larger cylinders I would think), and it must be PTO driven.

(4): Steel or Aluminum (if you got the $$$).

(5): Most usefull options you would get with the truck (i. e. under bed boxes, etc... )

If you were building your new 4500/5500 how would you build it? I figure this thread could be usefull to a lot of folks planning their next truck and might pick up a few usefull tips as well as some ideas they did not think about before ordering their utility/dump body.

I have spoken with a couple of upfitters with regard to having a dumping bed and a gooseneck style hitch. The biggest requirement is an 84" CA or longer so the host can be mounted far enough forward to allow the hitch to be over the axle.

The question on dump or flatbed bodies is really down to your personal preference. I will say the Crysteel's dumps, which I prefer, cannot have a gooseneck hitch installed due to the "Western" unitized style construction they use. I will make a disclaimer of don't hold me to this though because the upfittter I spoke with seamed pretty clueless.

I am currently thinking about the Switch N Go system by Bucks Fabricating, very expensive but slick. If I don't go with the Switch N Go then it will be one of Crysteel's E-Tipper units also not cheap but half the cost of the Switch N Go.

Thank you Tspanos for the info. I did not think about a 84" CA or longer as being a requirement. I would not want anything shorter than 84" with a quad-cab.

So, anybody else with ideas or does everyone with Chassie Cabs just drive around with their frames sticking out in the back.

Come on! Lets have some input here ... thats why this new forum is here.
