I knew that heading would get alot of looks !

With all the threads on the KDP lately it seems there is quite a few people concerned about the dowel, and can't wait to get their hands on the jigs ( if they could be found ).

My truck went out of warrantie about 4000 miles ago, so i have been thinking of doing the fix myself. The jig method looked good for the easy way out, but i was concerened about getting shaveings in the case.

I bought the seal and gasket last weekend, and read the instructions a couple of times, and dove right in to do the washer tab fix.

About four and a half hours later it was a done deal. This is alot easier fix than it sounds.

So i guess what i am trying to say, if you are worried about the KDP, don't wait on a jig that might not show in time. FIX IT !

These is no shaving problem if the jig is used correctly. The NW jig kit comes with an air hose that you attach to the dip stick tube while drilling and tapping. Don't know about the others. The air pressure blows all the cuttings out and the case is prevented from overpressure because air is allowed to flow out the blowby tube. Both fixes work just as good but the jig fix is much easier especially when you consider 99. 99% or more engines will never have a pin problem. If you have a '97 it probably is a good idea to get on it one way or another soon though.
