Was way off!
Last night we did the timing on my truck. Set it at what we thought was 16 degrees. (4. 9mm of lift)
Didn't figure out the starting, just went off of what we had. Ended up putting it all back together and started it, buncha white smoke, pump was SCREAMING just loving live.
Figured something wasn't right, so we took it back apart, and we checked our baseline (After multiple calls to people that I don't even know, if you're on here and RBratby called you about timing last night, thanks!) to find that it was about 39 degrees of timing. Ouch. Good thing the head didn't end up halfway across the polebarn.
Anyways, dialed it down, buttoned everything back up and away we went. Truck runs great now, got rid of my miss/stumble at low RPMs, havent had a chance to buzz it up on the freeway to make sure that its gone @ crusiing speeds.
The way we figured it out, before messing with it, the timing was roughly 25 degrees. As far as everyone could tell, the timing had never been done, so, the truck had to jump timing, and it had to jump forward (the motor ran backwards)
This all started after I put a set of 370's in and I was really bummed out that the truck ran like crap after dropping the coin on a set of EDM 370's from New Era.
Overall, the truck runs great, and my neighbors (I'm sure) loved seeing 2 green duallies w/ chromie stacks coming down the street bumper to bumper. I'm sure they were even happier at 12 in the mornin when they left
Big thanks out to Dispatch and RBratby... and whoever tells ya timing ALWAYS slips backwards... better think twice about it.
