what do the gm engineers smoke at lunch.

the d-max is actually programed to de-fuel at low rpm under a load while in 4-lo.

wouldnt want to use one of these to pull my trailer through the mud or snow. no more than 900 rpm in 4-lo. this rig aint even usable as a 4x4.

the intelligence of the engineers is just unbelievable. one more reason to stay away from the chevy.

According to one of the later posts, Chevy will now reflash the computer to remove this limit. I agree it wasn't a great idea, but I have to admit it sounds like they're at least willing to correct it.

The one that always really amazed me was some of the Oldmobile SUV's, that didn't even HAVE a low range...

(I can forgive that in something like a 4 wheel drive mini-van, but not in something that pretends to have true off-road capability)

I heard they have some sort of torque management as well that limits fueling at low rpm regardless of 2wd or 4wd obviously for durability reasons on the auto trans.

I feel bad for the guy who finds out he can have his truck re-flashed for some power... ... ... after getting pulled out!

900 RPM's is all in 4 low? For being the most "tested" truck, it kind of makes you wonder what kind of tests they did do.

At least the Duramax passed the drive-through window test.

;)

Imagine this::: 3 miles of 7% grade, 3 chevy trucks with 5th wheels stopped on a pullout, one with hood up and guys standing around looking under the hood. 1 powerstroke with 5th wheel same size as mine pulling the grade in the slow lane.

We had just passed the Ford and was about 2 truck lengths ahead when we went by the pullout. Running in 4th, 2200 rpms with a straight pipe. . I wonder why everyone in the pullout turned as we went by:D :D

I wish I had my camera. . Oh yes I forgot. . the Ford did pass us on the down hill:eek:

And she is running near stock. .

Rick
