Restoration Tools/Equipment?

Should I insulate under new slab floor or not?

The wife hit 5K at a slot machine going thru Nevada! The taxman gets a third, she gets some new house junk, and I get 500 for the shop. Any suggestions? I have most hand tools already, and a huge stainless roller set. I`m thinking MIG, but 110 or 230? Or a drill press? Let the games begin! DK.

mig machine [or tig if you can find used one at set price] 230vac definately. 110 doesn't have the power sometimes, and if you ever decide to sell it later, 230 will hold value better i think. [and it isn't all that hard to add a new circuit to the garage/shop for a 30a/40a 230vac outlet, or make a long dryer plug outlet extension cord [i still have both, but no longer have the 230 mig machine and i miss it, the 110 isn't enough]

Find a tig , you can do more and finer work , but then I found migs best for cast iron work and production . And then its a add on to a stick , opps now we'er talken a down payment on a welder.

Don, tell your wife I like Snap-on tools..... hint hint. :D

A good drill press is like a good, clean porta-potty. You may not use 'em all the time, but when you need one, you really need one. Just my own experience... . :)

I'd vote for either spending all the money on a good drill press, or using it as a partial payment on a good welder. Don't buy a $500 welder..... again, just my own experience.
