who's the jake brake expert?

Just cut off my muffler and running straight pipe and my pac brake is making an awful metallic rattling noise when engaged anybody know a fix

I would guess that the engine has the heavy exhaust valve springs? I really couldn't say. I'm not around those things.

Could you have your exhaust pipe rattling against something somewhere?

You should expect a hiss from the tail pipe but not a rattle. Like Bill said, check your pipe clearances and be sure you've got it hanging on rubber hangers.
