Can a 8 foot camper fit into a 6 foot bed?

5 Er Hitch Question

Tire size? RPMs at a given speed? Considering swapping out my 33" BFGs to stock 06 17" x 265 wheels & tires for improved towing. Can anyone give me their thoughts on RPM at a given speed? Towing in OD running stock tires (265s) pulling about #8500? With my 33's at 60 mph the engine is turning 2250 rpms. To pull in OD I would need to be going 70 mph. With the stock size tires (265s) would I be able to pull in OD? If not my RPMs would even be higher that 2250 at 60 which would really suck! ALL comments are appreciated. I know, 4. 10 GEARS!

Thanks,

Clay

Clay, Randy's ring and pinion is just up the road from you. I could bring my truck down some day for a test tow of your trailer. However, being retired now, I have a busy schedule!!! Find someone to do a gear swap with. SNOKING

My 01 with stock tires and 3. 54s was fine for all of the towing I have done with my 5th wheel (15k) although not liking the gear spacing between 3rd and OD as 3rd is just a bit too high and OD is fine if you are going 68-70 but to say the 3. 54's do not work on these trucks is just not true now granted I have a Edge Comp on the truck and DD3's with the DTT auto but hey all things equal right

I used to pull a 10000 lb 5th wheel with a 94 2500 2wd auto 3. 54 and it worked great. EGT's never went over 950 post turbo and I always left it in OD with the cruise on. Yours will do fine with the DTT in it.

I think it's the perfect combination. No need for 3. 73 or 4. 10 with a Cummins. ;)
