What Can you do to help fix The fuel cost problem?

Perkpillar?

I have been throwing around the idea of running the Amsoil 10W30 diesel oil in both my rigs but have been leary of the switch but don't know why.

I was wondering if anyone else is running it and if you see or saw a difference in starting and overall performance or milage gains with it?

Pros/ Cons to running it versus the 15w40 amsoil I have been running for years?

My concern is will it hold up in my 02 beings it is pushed hard a lot?

I was thinking of switching my 05 over to see if I gain some milage.

Heaviest either see pulling is in the neighborhood of 15k. 10-12k is normal.

I didn't know they made 10W30 diesel oil. I think id stay with the 15W40 though its probably cheaper.

They have several diesel specific oils

the old Heavy duty marine diesel 15w40

5w30 heavy duty diesel oil

5w40 premium diesel

5w40 european

10w30 heavy duty diesel oil

I am also wondering if the 5W30 HDD oil would be a better choice yet as It is a better quality than the 10W30.

I switch off and on between the 5w30 and the 15w40 (usually which ever I have the most of on the shelf ). The 5w30 works great as does the 15w40.

5w30 is probably OK if you don't live in a hot climate, I'd say it's great for cold northern climates. If it gets over 100 by much I wouldn't use it though. I just posted this the other day but I ran Amsoil 5w30 once in my 2001 HO and temps reached 110 here. When I sampled it the wear metal counts were double that what I had running 15w40 Amsoil. . . I think the 5w30 is too thin for hot weather.
